1. Read the text given below and answer the questions that follow:
The funny part used to be that people always pitied us when the time came for us to return. They said we must be so lonesome over there, with no other children near us. Of course Claude and I would have liked to have someone to play with us. It is hard to run pirate caves and things like that with only two. But we used to quarrel a good deal with the mainland children in winter. So it was perhaps just as well that there were none of them on the Big Half Moon. Claude and I never quarreled. To be sure, Father didn’t seem to have any relations except us. This used to puzzle Claude and me. Everybody on the mainland had relations. Why hadn’t we? Was it because we lived on and island? We thought it would be so jolly to have an uncle and aunt and some cousins. Once we asked Father about it, but he looked so sorrowful that we wished we hadn’t. He said it was all his fault Claude and I didn’t understand what he meant.

And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.
I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yam from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.

3. Go through the following text and answer the following questions :
Man has won his dominant position on this planet by his command over technology. Other animals have to take nature as they find her. They must fit into the environment she has thrust him into. Man alone changes the shape of this world. Technology is the sum total of all the different techniques by which man changes his world, manages his basic needs of food, clothing, shelter, even transportation and communications, and makes it more hospitable for him. However, no technology is an unmixed bliss until and unless we learn to use it effectively with the best of care, caution and intention. Mobile is such a great boon to us. If we do not use a duty, we are sure to lag behind in managing our basic needs successfully. But it is bound to be bane both to us and our associates if we use it recklessly ignoring our respective duties and responsibilities.
